“I coach because I love
helping people achieve their goals.”
Two experiences sparked my love of coaching
It all started when I was 16 years old. I was working with youth at summer camps and loved every minute of it. Later, in college, at the University of Northern Colorado, I coached the middle-distance runners and designed programs for the winter and spring seasons. After that experience, I knew, one day I would eventually become a coach.
After coaching individuals off and on over the next 10 years, In 2010, I was offered the opportunity to coach the distance runners at Marin Catholic High School. After a successful five years as an assistant coach in XC and Track & Field, I was offered the position of head coach in 2015, I jumped at the chance! I have recently just finished my 10th year as the head coach at Marin Catholic.
My Philosophy:
Work with every single athlete to help them achieve their goals.
I set goals with my athletes to find out where they are, and where they want to be. Then we work together to make those goals a reality. When everyone on the team has clear direction and goals, the entire team benefits, as each athlete will push the person next to them to be better! In return, all I ask from my athletes is to show up every day.
Attendance is key because if you aren’t there, you can’t improve.
RESULTS:
In 2015 (my first year as head coach), the Marin Catholic’s Track and Field program had 45 athletes and one Track and Field Pennant in the school’s 65-year history.
In 2019, coached the first-ever state champion at Marin Catholic in the 400 meters!
By 2020, the Track and Field program expanded to 130 athletes and we have added seven Track and Field pennants, including: Marin County Athletic League (MCAL) title, a North Coast Section (NCS) title, and back-to-back 2018 and 2019 State Champions!
In 2021, coached the second-ever state champion at Marin Catholic in the 800 meters!
Voted the 2021-2022 North Coast Section Coach of the Year for Women’s Track & Field at Marin Catholic!
I’m a big stats guy, so I love seeing my athletes improve on their marks no matter if they are trying to improve from an 8-minute mile to a 7-minute mile or trying to run their first sub-5-minute mile.
