Wayne Patton-Head Coach
I live out in the San Geronimo Valley with my lovely wife and our three children. I am currently the Chief Operating Officer for Body Kinetics Health Clubs in Marin as well as the head Track & Field/Cross Country coach at Marin Catholic High School in Kentfield, CA. I started Running Marin back in 2019 because coaching is where my heart is. I began with summer and winter running camps and have added private instruction for all ages. I have been a runner since I was 10 years old and running will be a part of my life forever!

High School Career:
I went to Summit High School in Breckenridge, Colorado. I won the 1993 state championship in the 1600 meters. I was also the anchor leg of the state champion 4 x 800-meter relay team in 1993. High School PR’s: 400 Meters-49.5, 800 Meters-1:56, 1600 Meters-4:21

College Career:
After high school, I got a scholarship to run at Western State College in Gunnison, CO, a Division II powerhouse in track and cross country. I spent two years there and in my sophomore year, I earned All-American honors in the 800 meters placing 8th at NCAA’s. I then transferred to the University of Northern Colorado in my junior year and that year was very special! I ended up winning the 1996 NCAA Div II National Championship in the 800 meters! I ended my college career as a 3-time All-American in track and field. College Track PR’s: 400 Meters-46.7 (relay anchor split), 800 Meters-1:49.85, 1500 Meters-3:49. College XC PR’s: 5K-15:11, 8K-25:04, 10K-32:13

Post-Collegiate Career:
After my national championship, I got an offer to move to Los Angeles to run for Reebok Track West and I took them up on it! We trained at Santa Monica College. My sponsored career spanned about five years between Reebok, Fila, Adidas, and Brooks. It was a really fun time and I ended up setting some big personal bests along the way.

Racing After Kids:
After two kids and in my mid 30’s, I decided I would train for a marathon. I started with the goal of running one marathon, but ended up running five marathons over the course of two years: Big Sur, Napa, Cal International, San Francisco, and Boston! I ended up hitting my goal of breaking three hours and ran a 2:57 at the Cal International Marathon.
